Board of Education Meets In-person and Provides Live-Streaming

The GCSD Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in-person in the school auditorium. Masks are required as well as social distancing. The meeting is open to the public. Enter the building on the northside at the Atrium entrance. Remote audience members may attend the meeting via the GCSD YouTube Channel. Remote audience members may participate during Public Participation by emailing Secretary to the Board Joni Schmidt jschmidt@gilpin.k12.co.us with the comment or input by 4 p.m. on the meeting day. Rec Center Afterschool Program

Starting Monday, March 1, the Youth Camp after school program at the rec center will be open to students K-6th.  No drop-ins will be allowed.  All teens ages 11-17 must be enrolled in the EAGLE program to be in the recreation center after school.  The EAGLE Teen program is free.  Parents will need to complete that enrollment packet and return it to the staff at the rec center. State Assessments Scheduled

The state testing window is open from April 13-May 6, 2021. The testing schedule is posted on the District website. Students will be taking the assessments in the contents of English Language Arts and math (grades 3-8), and science (grades 5, 8, 11). Freshmen and Sophomore students will take the PSAT on April 13 and Juniors will take the SAT on April 13. Parents must submit an annual request in writing to opt-out of state testing to your student’s principal. Send the opt-out request via email to your principal, Heather Huntoon, hhuntoon@gilpin.k12.co.us , and/or Alexis Donaldson, adonaldson@gilpin.k12.co.us.


Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences Set

Information on how to sign-up for virtual Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences for March 11 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and March 12 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. is forthcoming. 


Out-of-District 2021/2022 Enrollment Application is Open

The Gilpin County School District Out-of-District application for enrollment acceptance is now available for the 2021/2022 school year for grades Preschool through 12. Currently enrolled out-of-district students are required to reapply each school year.  The application will be located in Alma Start in your Alma Parent Portal.  Click the link to view the guide on how to complete the application/task.  If you are having issues accessing your Alma account please contact Catrina, Joni, or Gretchen.

 

Immunizations Required for School Attendance

Colorado law requires students who attend a preschool through 12th grade school to be vaccinated against many of the diseases vaccines can prevent, unless an exemption is filed. Click the preschool/childcare link or the Kindergarten through grade 12 link for detailed information about vaccinations and exemptions. 


Varsity Cheer Competes In The Frontier League Spirit Championships!

Gilpin County Varsity Cheerleaders will compete in the 7th Annual Frontier League Spirit Championships this Thursday, March 4th at 6:00 p.m.  The competition will be hosted by Sheridan High School and will be live streamed on the NFHS network: https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/9b32b38bbe.  Search Sheridan High School events, on demand, varsity cheerleading, and dance.


On Saturday, the Cheerleaders will be competing in the Sham Rock Blast in Greeley.  This will also be streamed on the same link as above, search North Ridge High School events, on demand, varsity cheerleading.
