South/Elementary Parking Lot Closed May 29

The South/Elementary Parking Lot will be closed tomorrow, May 29, after morning drop-off at 8 a.m. to accommodate the Elementary Safety Day event. A number of emergency vehicles will be parked in the South/Elementary lot during the school day. The lot will re-open in time for afternoon pick-up at 4 p.m.


Last Day of School

The last day of school for all students Pk-11 is May 30.  Students will be dismissed at 1 p.m.  Buses will run their normal routes at this time.


Emergency Messages to Parents

The school utilizes School Messenger for voice telephone calls and emails home to parents. If you miss the voice telephone message, the identical message is also sent by email and on Facebook @gilpincoschools. You can access Emergency School Communication Guidelines and Procedures here. Didn’t get a call or email? Are all your telephone and email contacts up-to-date in Infinite Campus(IC)? Do you need an IC Parent Portal account? Forgot your password? Contact Catrina, Joni, or Gretchen at the school for an IC account or password.

Emergency Contact Information Entered into IC by Parents

As we wrap-up the current school year, we are preparing for the start of the 2019/2020 school year in August. All student registration will be completed by parents/guardians online via the Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal. We will no longer be using paper Emergency Contact cards. Emergency contact information will be entered into the IC Parent Portal by parents/guardians. You can enter this Emergency contact information now for the 2019/2020 school year. If we are unable to reach a parent or guardian, the next contact will be your designated emergency contact. An emergency contact is someone who does not live in your household. The emergency contact could be a relative, a friend, or a co-worker.


Medication at School

Just a quick reminder, if your child currently has medication that is administered at or stored at school, please pick up the medication no later than May 30, 2019 from the Health Office.  Medications may not be kept at school through the summer. Any medication that is not picked up will be disposed of per district policy, including Inhalers and Epipens. If you have any questions please contact Connie coliver@gilpin.k12.co.us.


Food Service Position Available in August

We will have a Food Service position available in August for the next school year. Please contact Jane Yerkman at 720-562-3113 or jyerkman@gilpin.k12.co.us if you may be interested in working in Food Service in August.


Facilities Assistant Position Open

Due to retirement, GCSD has a 12 month Facilities Assistant position open beginning June 1, 2019. Please contact Ken Petersen at 720-562-3118 or kpetersen@gilpin.k12.co.us if you may be interested in working in Facilities Services.


Food Service Accounts

Starting last Monday, May 13, 2019, we can no longer allow students to add to their negative balances when purchasing a la carte items in the cafeteria.  If your student has money in his/her account (a positive balance) they will be able to purchase a la carte. If your student owes money (a negative balance) of any denomination, they will not be able to purchase any a la carte items.  Please contact Jane Yerkman at 720-562-3113 or jyerkman@gilpin.k12.co.us for more information. Immunization Non-Medical Exemption for 2019-2020

If you choose not to have your student vaccinated according to the current ACIP schedule for personal belief or religious reasons, you must submit a non-medical exemption to your child’s school at the entry of each school year.  Please submit a non-medical exemption record to the Health Office on August 12, 2019 or at Back to School Night on Thursday, August 8, 2019.  Multiple options are available at: www.colorado.gov/vaccineexemption.


All Incoming 6th Grade Students For 2019-2020

T-dap is a required Immunization for 6th grade and is an important step in protecting your child from Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (whooping cough).  Students entering the 6th grade must receive one dose of the Tdap vaccine, even if they are under 11 years of age. Please bring a copy of your students updated immunization records to the Health Office on August 12, 2019 or to Back to School Night on Thursday, August 8, 2019.  K-12th Grade School-required Immunizations for the 2019-2020 School year: Colorado Law Required Immunizations K-12 2019-2020
