Picture Day Scheduled

August 26th will be the first Picture Day of the 2019/2020 school year.  Forms went home last Thursday, August 15.


Messenger App

Parents/Guardians it is not necessary to download the Messenger App.  GCSD communicates through email, phone and text and will not send out messages through the app.  If you have any questions please contact Catrina at camaya@gilpin.k12.co.us.



Facilities Assistant Position Available

GCSD is accepting applications for a Facilities Assistant. This position is a part-time 20 hour a week position. This position is physically demanding and includes, but is not limited to, the ability to lift 75 lbs and perform school cleaning duties. Hourly wage ranges from $12.35 to $15.52 DOE. Applications are on the school website. Must pass a criminal background check. Drug-free workplace. GCSD is an equal opportunity employer. Pee Wee Cheer

Pee Wee Cheer Camp is coming up on Friday, September 20th!  It will be in the old gym from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Participants will work with the Varsity Cheerleaders and Coaches to learn a cheer, chants, and a dance to perform under the lights at the Homecoming football game that evening!  Registration forms with additional details will be sent home the week of August 19-22 for all Elementary Students. The cost is $35 per child and the form and fees are due on August 28th. International Travel Group

The spring break trip for next school year (March 2021) will be to the Dominican Republic.  There will be an information meeting for students and parents on Aug. 27th in Mrs. Bayne’s room beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Please join us to learn about the amazing trip that is coming!


GCS Running Club

A running club for all MS students (6th -8th) will begin on Wednesday 8/21.  This club will give MS students an opportunity to work out on the track and trails near the school Monday through Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.  There may also be some Friday and Saturday meeting as well, with a possible 5k or two built in to the schedule. There is no experience necessary, and no cost to participate.  Please contact Ryan Raynes at rraynes@gilpin.k12.co.us, or come to the atrium after school 8/21 for more information.


Local Newspaper

Our awesome local newspaper, The Mountain-Ear, is looking for student reporters. If you are interested in sharing the stories of our school, contact Barbara Hardt at publisher1977@gmail.com. This is a paid position and looks great on a resume!  Don’t pass up this wonderful opportunity.


Driving and Parking Reminders

With school back in session, please be aware of pedestrians walking from the parking lots and in the crosswalks. Please adhere to the one way traffic flow in the south parking lot and on the Atrium Drive all the time when driving on the campus. Also, the south side handicap parking spaces are for handicap use. Please don’t park in those spots without a handicapped license plate or mirror placard, nor block in vehicles that are parked in handicapped spots.  


Chromebook Insurance Available

New this year, Chromebooks damage insurance is available for students in grades 6-12 through School Device Coverage.  This insurance is offered through a second-party vendor and School Device Coverage is not associated with GCSD. For more information click the link.


Free and Reduced Lunch Application

The Free and Reduced Application for the 2019/2020 school year is now available.  For instructions and more information click the link for the Food Services Page.  You can download the application from the link or paper copies are available from Catrina. 

 

Late Start
