2019 Board of Education Election

The Gilpin County School District RE-1 Board of Education has five at-large directors that are elected to four-year staggered terms. 


Three seats are up for election in the November 5, 2019 Biennial Election. Candidates must be a registered elector of the school district for at least 12 consecutive months before the election and be a resident of the school district. Anyone convicted of a commission of a sexual offense against a child is ineligible to run for school director. Board candidates run on a non-partisan basis.


Interested parties for school director shall file a written notice of intention to be a candidate and a nomination petition signed by at least 25 eligible electors who are registered to vote in the regular biennial school election.  Nomination petitions will be available beginning Wednesday, August 7, 2019 and returned no later than 4 p.m. on August 30, 2019. Petitions may be picked-up and returned to Joni Schmidt, Secretary to the Board, at 10595 CO 119, Black Hawk, CO 80422 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
