Gilpin Improves Scores on Colorado Statewide Assessments

Gilpin County School District students did well on spring 2016 state assessments. The Class of 2017 earned an ACT composite score of 22.6 surpassing the Colorado state average of 20.6. Students and teachers continue to show increased academic achievement.

The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) science and social studies test along with the English language arts (ELA) and math Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) tests were taken by students in grades 3-9.

In 2016, grade 3-9 students who met or exceeded expectations at or above the state average did so in 11 of 18 tests (61%). In 2015, for grades 3-9, students were at or above the state average in 7 of 18 tests (39%).
