The Nutrition & Wellness Committee is a group of parent and
community volunteers who work closely with the Food Services Department
to ensure we are doing all we can to provide the most nutritious meals
to our children and that parents have the tools they need to provide
well-balance nutrition at home. The overarching mission to ensure all
children at Gilpin County Schools are healthy. Meetings are held at 6pm
in the Superintendent’s Conference Room.
The Nutrition & Wellness Committees Goals
- Explore support opportunities for promoting physical activity with our students, staff and parents.
- Provide
nutrition and wellness information to students, staff, and parents
utilizing the district website and elementary folders.
- Support
the classroom teachers in promoting healthy food and activities during
school holiday parties by providing information on healthy alternatives.
