Jill Peterson was appointed to the Board of Education in June 2025 to complete a vacated term. Jill will serve on the Board of Education from June 17, 2025 until the next regular biennial school election in November 2025. Ms. Peterson was elected in November 2025 to complete the seat’s term that ends in November 2027.

Since March 2022, Ms. Peterson and her husband have resided in the Aspen Springs neighborhood. They have two children enrolled in Gilpin County Schools who are highly active in band, theater, Math Counts, and school sports. Ms. Peterson is a dedicated volunteer in the school and community, attending many school events, serving as a volunteer at ski races, and helping coach and score games at the Gilpin County Recreation Center’s ball fields. She also recently attended the Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB) Fall Delegates Conference, committing to ongoing professional development in school governance.

Ms. Peterson brings technical and analytical experience to the Board. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Software Engineering from North Dakota State University. She currently works as a Senior Data Engineer at the University of Colorado Boulder, where her career emphasizes strategic planning, data-driven problem-solving, and collaboration—skills she applies directly to Board governance.
