Hello Gilpin Families!
I can't believe it is May and the end of the 25-26 school year! We have had an amazing school year with students participating in exciting activities and opportunities and engaging in rigorous work. This year we focused heavily on school community. Students participated in mixed grade teams through the AstroEagles program meeting monthly to complete activities. All 3rd-5th grade students became mentors to a Kindergarten-2nd grade student supporting them academically and socially/emotionally. We also continued with our Circle Keeper Ambassador Program with students in 2nd-5th grade supporting their classroom teacher in running Restorative and Community Circles. I am proud of the hard work of the staff and students throughout this school year and I am excited to spend the rest of this month working hard to end the year on a great note!
Sincerely,
Patrick Linnehan

For April, students traveled to Neptune and focused on creating a code of conduct to live by. Within their group, each team developed their own team code highlighting traits that focused on integrity and responsibility. The values were written on shields and displayed on the "Wall of Honor" in the MPR for all students to see!
|
We also completed our journey through the solar system with April's mission! See the video below to show all 8 mission highlights displayed across the MPR! For the final mission, students will look back on their journey reflecting on all we've learned this school year. |
Congratulations to our May GCES Student of the Month Finley Hoctor! Finley was nominated by her classroom teacher who said of her, "Finley is a true leader in our class, setting a positive example in so many ways. She is consistently kind, hardworking, and serves as an outstanding role model for our first-year students. Finley collaborates well with others, and her classmates know they can always look up to her. She is also a talented writer who uses thoughtful transitions to strengthen her work. On top of all that, her great sense of humor brings joy to our classroom every day." Great job Finley!
