Safety Drill 9/30/26

Gilpin School Community Members,

All students and staff will be participating in a Safety Drill on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, sometime between 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Students and staff will practice a Lockdown! drill. A Lockdown! is a response to a concern inside the building. Students and staff will follow the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and lock classroom doors, turn out lights, move out of sight, maintain silence, and teachers will account for all students. There may be a number of law enforcement or other emergency vehicles at the school prior to and during the safety drill. The safety drill will last about 15 minutes. Teachers should review Lockdown! Procedures with their students prior to the safety drill. All staff should review all SRP procedures. The District conducts safety drills throughout the school year, usually one each month. The purpose is to drill safety procedures so we are all "Emergency Prepared." There is no other reason to have a safety drill tomorrow other than to practice.
